At least 55 species of bats are thought to occur within the park. Bats are very important in the
functioning of the forest. They play a vital role in the pollination and seed dispersal of many tropical plants, including wild bananas and some species of pandans or screw palms. There is a close relationship between certain forest plants and particular bat species; a fall in bat numbers has the potential, therefore, to affect long-term forest composition.
